Kyoto Tower is a 131 meters observation tower in front of Kyoto station and the tallest construction in Kyoto city. As the symbol of Kyoto, it is builded like a lighthause lighting up the city in 1964. There are no high-rise buildings in Kyoto, because there is a ristriction for heights of constructions in Kyoto, then you can observe all over the city from the observation room which is on the top floor of the tower and 100 meter height.

In order to visit the tower, you can get there approx. 2 minutes on foot from the JR Kyoto station. The opening hours are from 9 am till 9 pm and the admission fee is 770 yen for adults, 620 yen for high school students and 520 yen for children.

Kiyomizu Temple

Kiyomizu temple is a temple in Kyoto and the main building is known as "Kiyomizu no Butai" (literally: the Stage of Kiyomizu). The stage is an approx. 13 meters high wooden building without any nails and entertainments were dedicated here originally. And here is the original place of the Japanese idiom "Kiyomizu no Butai kara tobioriru" (literally: to jump down from the Stage of Kiyomizu) which means to determine an important thing.

In order to visit the temple, you can take a bus on the line 100 (Express) or the line 206 of the City Bus from the JR Kyoto station to the Gojozaka stop and then go approx. 10 minutes on foot. The opening hours are generally from 6 am till approx. 6 pm (The closing time vary depending on the time of year). And in special nights the temple closes once and reopens. The admission fee is 300 yen for adults and 200 yen for children (During special night the fee is 400 yen for adults and 200 yen for children).

Kinkaku Temple (Golden Pavilion Temple) is a temple in Kyoto and the official name is Rokuonji Tenple. The Shariden is a famous building which is lacquered Japanese lacquer and gilded gold leaf, and known as Kinkaku (literally: Golden Pavilion). The temple was a cottage builded by the third Shogun Yoshimitsu Ashikaga of the Muromachi Shogunate originally and became a Zen temple after his death. It is fantastic that the building is reflected in the Kyokochi (literally: the Mirror Pond).

In order to visit the temple, you can take a bus on the line 101 (Express) or the line 205 of the City Bus from the JR Kyoto station to the Kinkakujimichi stop and then go approx. 5 minutes on foot. The opening hours are from 9 am till 5 pm and the admission fee is 400 yen for adults and 300 yen for children.

Ginkaku Temple (Silver Pavilion Temple) is a temple in Kyoto and the official name is Jishoji Tenple. The temple was a cottage builded by the eighth Shogun Yoshimasa Ashikaga of the Muromachi Shogunate originally and became a Zen temple after his death. Since the Kannonden, which is known as Ginkaku (literally: Silver Pavilion), imitated the Kinkaku of the Kinkaku Tempel (Golden Pavilion Temple), afterward the temple is called Ginkaku Temple (Silver Pavilion Temple) toward the Kinkaku Tempel (Golden Pavilion Temple). And, the temple has the most important architecture and garden of the Higashiyama culture which Yoshimasa builded, then you can feel a Japanese sense of beauty into Wabisabi here.

In order to visit the temple, you can take a bus on the line 101 (Express), the line 5 or the line 17 of the City Bus from the JR Kyoto station to the Ginkakujimichi stop and then go approx. 5 minutes on foot. The opening hours are from 8:30 am till 5 pm in sommer (from March to November) and from 9 am till 16:30 pm in winter (from December to February), and the admission fee is 500 yen for adults and 300 yen for children.

Fushimi Inari Shrine is a Inari shrine in Kyoto and the main shrine of Inari shrines, that there are approx. 30,000 shrines all over the country. "Senbon Torii" (literally: the Thousand Torii), where a lot of Torii is lined densely, is known, but the precinct is around the west of the Mount Inari and there are approx. 10,000 Torii along the way in total. The god, which is worshipped in the shrine, was originaly for agriculture, but today it became to be known also for commerce and industry. And white fox is the bearer of the god in Inari shrines, so there are many statues of the fox in the precinct.

In order to visit the shrine, you can get there from the JR Inari station or the Keihan Fushimi Inari station approx. 5 minutes on foot. The opening hours are all day and the admission fee is for free. And it takes approx. 2 hours to go around Mount Inari.

Heian Shrine

Heian Shrine is a shrine in Kyoto and is in the Okazaki park, that there are art museums, a liblary and so on. In order to commemorate the 1100th anniversary of the transfer of the capital to Heian (Kyoto), the shrine was builded in 1895 as a shrine which the Emperor Kanmu who transferred the capital to Heian is dedicated. The shrine garden, which is a Japanese garden in the Meiji period, is 33,000 square meters in all, and there are 4 gardens, namely East, Central, West and South Garden. You can see red weeping cherry in spring, sweet flags in sommer, red leaves in autumn and a snowy landscape in winter, then scenery changes from season to season.

In order to visit the shrine, you can take a bus on the line 100 (Express) or the line 5 of the City Bus from the JR Kyoto station to the Kyotokaikan-Bijutsukan-mae stop and then go approx. 10 minutes on foot. The opening hours are from 8:30 am till approx. 5 pm and the admission fee of the shrine garden is 600 yen for adults and 300 yen for children.
