Todaiji Temple
Todaiji Temple is a temple in Nara and, the Great Buddha of approx. 15 meter height and the Hall of the Great Buddha of approx. 48 meter height are famous. The Great Buddha is formally "Rushanabutsu", and the Emperor Shomu instructed the construction of the statue in 745, then the statue was finished in 752. The hall is formally "Kondo", and the building is burned twice, then the current building was builded in 1708 again and was long time the largest wooden building in the world.
In order to visit the temple, you can get there from the Nara station of Kintetsu Railway approx. 20 minutes on foot. The opening hours are from 8 am (7:30 am in summer) to 5 pm (5:30 pm in summer, 4:30 pm in winter) and the admission fee is 500 yen for adult and 300 yen for children.
Nara Park
Nara Park is a park of 500 hectare in area in Nara and there are Todaiji Temple, Kofukuji Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Nara National Museum, Isuien Garden, Sarusawa Pond, Wakakusa Hill and so on. By the park there is approx. 1,200 deer, and you can buy also Deer Snacks (150 Yen), then you can feed them.
In order to visit the park, you can get there from the Nara station of Kintetsu Railway approx. 15 minutes on foot. The opening hours are all day and the admission fee is for free.
